What Makes Our Magpie Netting a Top Choice
We’ve used a knotted design to craft our Magpie Netting, increasing its strength and resilience in demanding areas where magpie activity may be high.
The net material itself is a professional-grade polyethylene, which has been treated with a UV-resistant, rot-proof, and chemically inert finish, enhancing the net’s integrity in exposed outdoor environments.
The 50mm mesh size ensures it is safe for magpies and other similarly sized birds, preventing them from accessing restricted areas without causing them harm.
Huck Nets is one of the UK’s leading bird net suppliers, so you can trust our Magpie Netting to solve your bird control needs.

Magpie Deterrents Installation Guide
1. Prepare Tools & Materials
- Gather basic tools
- Straining wire
- Magpie deterrent netting
2. Install Wire Perimeter
- Attach main fixings (eyebolts) every 10m or at points where the wire changes direction.
- Add intermediate fixings (pins, rivets, or brackets) as needed based on the bird species you're protecting against.
3. Set Up Straining Wire:
- Loop the wire through the main fixing and secure it with 2 ferrules or wire rope grips.
- At the other end, attach the wire to a barrel strainer, connecting the strainer to the main fixing.
- Tension the wire as needed. For runs over 10m, install cross-wires for extra support.
4. Attach the Netting:
- Secure the net’s corners to the corner fixings with cable ties.
- Use hog rings to attach the netting to the wire at every mesh, keeping it tight and square to prevent gaps.

FAQs
Why is a 50mm Mesh Size the Most Effective for Deterring Magpies?
A 50mm mesh is ideal for medium-sized birds like magpies. Using anything larger than 50mm isn’t recommended, as magpies could squeeze through the gaps, making the deterrent ineffective.
