Easy Knotted Pigeon Netting Installation Guide
Installing anti-bird netting is simple with some basic tools and straining wire. Follow these steps for an effective setup:
Step 1: Create a Wire Perimeter
- Install Main Fixings: Attach eyebolts (main bird net fixings) every 10m and at each point where the wire will change direction.
- Add Intermediate Fixings: Install pins, rivets, or brackets (intermediate fixings) at intervals appropriate for the bird species you’re protecting against.
Step 2: Install the Straining Wire
- Start a new wire run from each main fixing.
- Loop the wire through the eye of the main fixing and secure it with 2 ferrules or 2 wire rope grips.
- At the other end, loop the wire through the eye of a hook/eye barrel strainer. Attach the hook end to the main fixing.
- Tension the wire as needed. For runs over 10m, tensioned cross-wires may be required.
Step 3: Attach the Net
- Use a cable tie to secure the corner of the net to a corner fixing.
- Attach the net to the wire by hog-ringing every mesh, keeping the net tight and square.
- Check for gaps or holes to ensure birds can’t get through.
