Plastic Netting (28mm Mesh)
Multi-Purpose 28mm Plastic Netting from Huck
Our 28mm Plastic Netting is one of our most versatile nets, providing you with a convenient, reliable, and cost-effective solution to bird-proofing your property.
Our strong plastic netting can be used in a range of situations, including:
- Bird proofing buildings
- Deterring birds from roofs to prevent nesting
- As plastic garden netting to protect plants and garden buildings
- General domestic and commercial projects
Thanks to its lightweight and easy-to-handle construction, it can be reused in various settings and situations, making it a practical bird deterrent choice for any project.
The 28mm mesh size is what makes this net so adaptable, as it can keep out starlings, pigeons, seagulls, and other starling-size birds or larger, which are common nuisances for many property owners.
For prolonged durability, the net material is chemically inert, rot-proof, and UV-stabilised, so it’s excellent for outdoor use and won’t deteriorate when exposed to the elements.
Additionally, its black colour helps it blend in with most environments and makes it less noticeable from a distance, preserving the aesthetic of your property.

3 Step Bird Netting Installation Guide
Setting up your bird net is simple: you will build a wire frame around the area, then clip the net to the wire.
1. Place Your Fixings
- Put Main Fixings every 10 meters and at every corner/turn.
- Put Intermediate Fixings in a straight line between the main ones.
2. Run and Tighten the Wire
- Start: Loop the wire through your first main fixing and secure it with 2 grips or ferrules.
- End: At the other end, loop the wire into a barrel strainer, hook the strainer to the main fixing, and twist to tighten the wire.
(For runs over 10 meters, add a criss-cross wire for extra support).
3. Clip on the Net
- Use a cable tie to anchor the corner of the net to a corner fixing.
- Pull the net tight and square, then clip every single mesh loop to the wire using hog rings.
Quick Tips
- Stainless Steel vs Galvanised: We highly recommend Stainless Steel (304 or 316 grade). Galvanised wire is cheaper but will rust much faster.
- Get the Right Fixings: Make sure your screws/plugs match your surface (wood, brick, metal, or cladding).

How Do I Measure How Much Bird Netting I Need?
Measure the full area you wish to cover, adding extra for fixing and securing.
For example, if you’re measuring to bird-proof a roof, measure the entire length and width of the roof, or use the available building plans to get accurate measurements. If you’re covering a specific area, such as a garden or patio, measure the length and width of the space.
