Pigeon Net Installation Guide
Installing anti-pigeon netting is straightforward with the right tools and materials. Bird net fixings can be purchased alongside your pigeon net. Follow these simple steps:
Tools You’ll Need:
- Basic tools (pliers, wire cutters, etc.)
- Straining wire
- Eyebolts (main fixings)
- Pins, rivets, or rackets (intermediate fixings)
- Barrel strainers
- Ferrules or wire rope grips
- Cable ties
- Hog rings
Step 1: Set Up the Wire Perimeter
- Install Main Fixings: Attach eyebolts every 10m and at any point where the wire will change direction.
- Install Intermediate Fixings: Add pins, rivets, or rackets between the main fixings. The spacing depends on the bird species you’re protecting against.
Step 2: Attach the Straining Wire
- Start a wire run at each main bird net fixing.
- Loop the wire through the eyebolt at one end, securing it with 2 ferrules or wire rope grips.
- At the other end, loop the wire through a hook/eye barrel strainer and attach it to the main fixing.
- Tension the wire as needed. For runs longer than 10m, tensioned cross-wires may be necessary.
Step 3 Install the Netting
- Attach the pigeon net to the corner fixing using a cable tie.
- Hog ring every mesh of the net to the wire, ensuring the net is tight and square.
- Check for gaps or holes to make sure birds can’t get through.
