10m x 10m Starling Net - Black
Ready-to Use 10m x 10m Net for Starling Deterrent
Our Black 10m x 10m Starling Netting is an excellent solution for keeping pesky starlings away from your property, or for constructing aviaries.
With a mesh size of 28mm, it's designed specifically to prevent these birds from entering or nesting in buildings and gardens, and also for use as aviary bird netting. This mesh size is perfect for starlings as it doesn't trap or harm them, but simply deters them from entering or landing.
The precut 10m x 10m size makes it ready for immediate installation, or for cutting and reshaping yourself as needed. It’s great for use in gardens, balconies, rooftops, and any other large outdoor areas where starlings may pose a problem.
A Robust & Heavy Duty Starling Net Choice
We’ve used a precise knotted design for this starling net, offering added durability so you get more use from your bird net.
Additionally, the high-quality polyethylene is chemically inert, rot-proof, and UV-stabilised, providing you with the confidence that it will withstand the elements and offer reliable protection for many years.

3 Step Bird Netting Installation Guide
Setting up your bird net is simple: you will build a wire frame around the area, then clip the net to the wire.
1. Place Your Fixings
- Put Main Fixings every 10 meters and at every corner/turn.
- Put Intermediate Fixings in a straight line between the main ones.
2. Run and Tighten the Wire
- Start: Loop the wire through your first main fixing and secure it with 2 grips or ferrules.
- End: At the other end, loop the wire into a barrel strainer, hook the strainer to the main fixing, and twist to tighten the wire.
(For runs over 10 meters, add a criss-cross wire for extra support).
3. Clip on the Net
- Use a cable tie to anchor the corner of the net to a corner fixing.
- Pull the net tight and square, then clip every single mesh loop to the wire using hog rings.
Quick Tips
- Stainless Steel vs Galvanised: We highly recommend Stainless Steel (304 or 316 grade). Galvanised wire is cheaper but will rust much faster.
- Get the Right Fixings: Make sure your screws/plugs match your surface (wood, brick, metal, or cladding).

FAQs
Why is Black a Good Colour for Starling Netting?
Black is usually the standard colour choice for starling netting as it is less visible and blends better with the surrounding environment. In public areas, this may be more attractive so as not to stand out.
Why is a 28mm Mesh Size the Most Effective for Deterring Starlings?
A 28mm mesh is specifically designed for these smaller birds. We wouldn’t recommend any larger than 30mm for starlings, as they will then be able to squeeze through the gaps and defeat the purpose of the deterrent.
How Do I Measure How Much Bird Netting I Need?
Measure the full area you wish to cover, adding extra for fixing and securing. If you're unsure, contact our team and we’ll be happy to help where possible.
We also offer bird netting installation – as part of this package, we will conduct a site visit to assess the area and can provide advice on how much starling netting you will need. Also contact us for this service and more information.
Is Starling Netting Safe for the Birds?
Any type of high-quality bird netting, including starling netting, is safe and a humane method of bird control. You should ensure the correct netting has been chosen for your specific issue, and that it is installed correctly to prevent harm to any birds.
