Heavy-Duty & Multi-Use Knotless Starling Netting

Our Knotless Starling Netting is an excellent solution for keeping pesky starlings away from your property. Just some of the settings it can be used in include:

  • Safeguard orchards, vineyards & berry farms from starling infestations
  • Install on warehouses & barns to prevent starlings from nesting in eaves
  • Construct or reinforce aviaries & poultry runs
  • Cover fruit trees, vegetable plots & other garden areas
  • Prevent starlings from nesting under solar panels
  • Deter starlings from roosting under bridges & structures in urban environments

With a mesh size of 30mm, it's designed specifically to prevent these birds from entering or nesting in buildings and gardens, and also for use as aviary bird netting. This mesh size is perfect for starlings as it doesn't trap or harm them, but simply deters them from entering or landing.

The knotless net design has been used for added strength and resilience, ensuring it holds up in demanding environments.

Additionally, the bird net material is made from high-quality polyethylene that's chemically inert, rot-proof, and UV-stabilised, providing you with the confidence that it will withstand the elements and offer reliable protection for many years.

We also offer a choice of colours, depending on the setting or personal preference. Our black starling netting is often preferred for commercial buildings, while white provides an ‘invisible’ appearance, and hemp netting blends in well with natural surroundings or properties.

Tools and Materials Needed:

Step 1: Set Up the Perimeter

  • Install a wire perimeter around the area you want to protect.
  • Fix eyebolts every 10m or wherever the wire changes direction.
  • Add intermediate fixings at smaller intervals depending on the bird species.

Step 2: Install the Wire

  • Loop the wire through the first eyebolt and secure with 2 ferrules or grips.
  • Loop the other end through a hook/eye strainer and attach it to the other fixing.
  • Use the strainer to tension the wire. For spans over 10m, add cross-wires for support.

Step 3: Attach the Netting

  • Use a cable tie to attach the net to the first corner fixing.
  • Hog ring the net to the wire, making sure it's taut and square.
  • Check for gaps to ensure full bird protection.

FAQs

Why is a 30mm Mesh Size an Effective Starling Deterrent?

The 30mm mesh size is specifically designed for smaller birds like starlings. We wouldn’t recommend any larger than this, as they may be able to squeeze through and bypass the barrier.

How Do I Measure How Much Knotless Starling Netting I Need?

Measure the full area you wish to cover, adding extra for fixing and securing. If you're unsure, contact our team and we’ll be happy to help.

Can the Netting Be Reused or Relocated?

Yes, absolutely. Our Knotless Starling Netting is durable and flexible enough to be reused or moved as needed, provided it’s removed and stored properly and there is no damage or signs of weakness.

Is Knotless Starling Netting Better Than Knotted?

Both knotted and knotless starling netting offer excellent protection. However, knotless netting reduces stress on joins and offers superior strength and long-term durability, making it a popular choice in high-impact or long-span installations.
