Easy Knotless Gull Netting Installation Guide
What You’ll Need:
- Basic tools
- Straining wire
- Eyebolts (main fixings)
- Pins, rivets, or rackets (intermediate fixings)
- Ferrules or wire rope grips
- Hook/eye barrel strainers
- Cable ties
- Hog rings
Step 1: Set Up the Wire Perimeter
- Install the main fixings (eyebolts) every 10m and at all wire direction changes.
- Add intermediate fixings (pins, rivets, rackets) at intervals based on the bird species.
Step 2: Install the Wire
- Start a wire run at a main fixing:
- Loop the wire through the fixing and secure it with 2 ferrules or wire rope grips.
- At the other end, loop the wire through the hook/eye barrel strainer and attach the strainer to the main fixing.
- Tighten the wire for proper tension.
- For areas longer than 10m, add tensioned cross-wires.
Step 3: Attach the Netting
- Secure the corner of the net to a corner fixing using a cable tie.
- Attach the net to the wire:
- Use hog rings to connect each mesh of the net to the wire.
- Ensure the net is tight, square, and free of gaps to keep birds out.
