Bird Netting Fittings Advice
As well as our extensive range of bird-proofing products including bird netting, bird spikes and solar panel bird proofing we also provide the relevant bird netting installation fixings to install these bird-proofing systems.
In this section, you will find a range of tools and fixtures that can be used with our bird-proofing products.
When installing anti bird netting, we recommend the following advice for bird netting installation fixings. If you have any questions about bird netting installation then please do contact our team who will be happy to help advise on the right products for the job.
Bird netting installation usually requires a strong wire perimeter onto which the bird netting can be attached. The wire should cover the whole area that is being bird proofed as this is what the bird net will be attached to when securing it to the building or roof.
We advise that when fixing a straining wire to install main fixings every 10m and wherever the wire will change direction. Main fixings include zinc eyebolts and bridge clamps.
After securing the main fixings you can move onto installing the intermediate fixings. These bird net fixings should be installed at appropriate intervals for the bird species being proofed against.
Start a new run of wire from each main fixing then loop the wire through the eye of the main fixing at one end and secure in place using 2 ferrules or 2 wire rope grips.
At the other end, the wire should be looped through the eye of a hook/eye barrel strainer. The hook end of the strainer should then be attached to the eye of the main fixing and the wire tensioned accordingly.
Tensioned cross-wires may be required for runs over 10m. To start fitting the net, first, use a cable tie to attach the corner of the net to a corner fixing. From there every mesh should be hog ringed to the wire, ensuring the net is tight and square.
